Truth

There is no truth
    In the lie that's told;
But truth is there
    As value in gold.

Truth is the fact
    Of what you've been told,
When fiction peeled
    Is left in the cold.

Truth has a way
    Of helping unfold -
Fact from the tale
    You thought you had sold.

I'll not presume
    Nor be very bold,
Trying to sway
    From that which you hold.

But truth is truth
    That will not be rolled
Into the dark
    Or into the cold.

You may get away
With the lie you told -
But "Truth will out"
    And you will be cold.
