The Devil Made Me Do It — Not On Your Life
Rev. Kenneth Francart
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)
Every time we have a choice to make, who we listen to is the reason for the choice we make. We can chose to listen to God and follow His words; We can listen to the devil and follow his sneaky, underhanded invasions into our thinking; We can listen to ourselves and try to do it our way.
If we listen to ourselves and attempt to do it our way we are not following our individual thoughts at all. The devil is constantly urging us on to even bigger catastrophes than we can imagine. It isn’t hard to follow the devil’s urging, in fact it is really fairly simple. We have the seed thought in our head and all he does is tell us to follow through on the idea. There is no good thing that we would think of on our own. Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? If we think we are good and moral and honest we are deceiving ourselves. Without being taught and groomed in the ways of morality we would be nothing less that the wildest beast on earth. We are, by nature, sinful and disobedient to the will of God.
If we follow God, we are on solid ground. We can do what He tells us and there will be no problems to arise. Being in the will of God is not easy either, that is in the beginning. There is always the ego getting in the way and then there are the myriad of things that must be done and raising each ugly head, not one at a time, but all of them raising their combined ugliness to interfere with our quiet time with the Lord.
One of the ways is to set aside one hour each day to read and meditate on His word. Getting into the habit of striving for the same time each day and sticking to it, helps immensely. We can’t allow contrived emergencies to interrupt our quiet time with the Lord. And remember that meditation means that we allow God to speak to us and impress us with His desires for our life.
It does get easier, when we know that we are in communion with God and that His Spirit is guiding us. Listening will become easier as our awareness grows of God walking with us.
Remember this; Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV) There are times that we will lose that wonderful awareness of God walking with us, but that verse recalled to memory reassures us and that is why we have the admonition of keeping His word hidden in our hearts that we will not sin against Him, Ps 119:11.
We strengthen our walk with the Lord just as Scripture teaches us in Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (KJV) Trusting Our Lord is not as difficult as it may at first seem, but trusting Him with all our might is a must to walk with Him continually.
I pray this be our constant goal.

Jesus is standing at the door to your heart
all the time. He is knocking to come in and love you and guide you. He is
offering you the gift of everlasting life, but you must hear Him and open
the door to Him as He will not kick it in.
(Rev. 3:20) A gift is just outside your
heart's door at this time. Will you receive this gift? Will you open the
door to Jesus and let him flood your soul with His love? If so, read the
following paragraph as your prayer.
