The Agony Of Defeat
Rev. Kenn Francart

Phil 3:8Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (KJV)

However, we are not talking about some down-hill slope or any other sport in the world at which you are trying to win or at least finish without falling on your face. We are talking about life and how you succeed or fail in that. Also, we are not talking about your business acumen or your ability to raise a family, we are getting into the very nature of life and how you’ve handled it.
The purpose of life is to Glorify God. Everything we do reflects that Glory and/or detracts from the Glory due Him. How and why we do all that also benefits those around us in whether we (and they) achieve the goal of eternal life with Jesus.
There is that ever-present agony of defeat in not spending eternity with Jesus. That is formed in the fact of eternal separation from God and eternal fire where you will not be consumed. (Mark 9:48) There is another agony involved here in that you will not have any friends who care that you’re there (they want out of there as well). There won’t be Saturday night card games and don’t look forward to night life of joy there won’t be any. Agony is not making the goal, but if your goal was not to Glorify God, you will still have achieved the knowledge of defeat because, like it or not, that is your purpose.
Turn your life around by allowing the Holy Spirit to have free reign in your life. Ask Jesus to come into your life and trust Him to bring you to Himself for an eternal life in and with God. Winning is everything, “that I may win Christ,”

All Scripture is from the King James Version (KJV).

Amen

Jesus is standing at the door to your heart all the time. He is knocking to come in and love you and guide you. He is offering you the gift of everlasting life, but you must hear Him and open the door to Him as He will not kick it in. (Rev. 3:20) A gift is just outside your heart's door at this time. Will you receive this gift? Will you open the door to Jesus and let him flood your soul with His love? If so, read the following paragraph as your prayer.

Father, I know that I have sinned and I turn from those ways and ask you to come into my heart and cleanse me. I know that I cannot do this on my own and I need your help. Fill my soul, Lord, and make me whole. I want your will for my life to be preeminent. Help me to grow in your way. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus.
    Amen
