| On May 1st and 2nd
73 members of the A.W. Crazy Legs Line Dance Club invaded the dance hall of the Southaven
Moose Lodge, where the equally large Memphis-based Bootscooters played hosts for two days
of country/western dancing. The get-together was the culmination of an invitation from
Bill and Joyce Gary (dance instructors for the Bootscooters) to Graham and Annette Wright
(their English counterparts and instructors for the Crazy Legs). Hailing from Halifax,
England, the group stopped in Southaven to spend two days of their weeklong American tour
with the Bootscooters. Monday night was an informal getting-to-know-you session. Annette Wright taught a line dance she had choreographed for this event entitled "Any Which Way in the USA." Bill Gary taught one of the newer line dances to the English. Brits and Yanks hit it off smashingly well as they shared their love of country/western dancing. Not able to get enough line dancing and fellowship on Monday, the two groups met the next night for a dinner/dance. The English arrived fashionably late (although their American counterparts were quite worried) in 15 taxis explaining with good humor that their "coaches" had failed to arrive to bring them to the Moose Lodge. So they called in the Calvary (taxis in this case) and a procession of cabs dropped off carload after carload of dancers. The two groups may have gotten off to a late start, but they made up for lost time as they danced into the wee hours of the morning. It was a wonderful experience for all. Fun abounded. Friendships were forged. All were sad to see the two days come to an end. Picture taking and address exchanging played a major part of Tuesday night as everyone captured on film memories of a very special time. |

| The members of A.W.s Crazy Legs Line Dance Club displayed great surprise and delight at the sign that greeted them to the Southaven Moose Lodge. Bill and Joyce Gary were responsible for making the sign. At the request of the Crazy Legs members, Bootscooters were asked to sign it so the Crazy Legs could take it back to England with them. |
